During the use of electric hoists with oil wire ropes, it is inevitable to encounter situations such as wire rope breakage. Therefore, how to connect the wire rope if it breaks in the middle is explained in detail below:

　　There are two commonly used methods for connecting steel wire ropes: one is to insert each strand of broken wire into a strand every other strand, and the other is to insert each strand of broken wire into a strand every two strands.

　　The first one is shown in Figure a.

　　1. Insert from the 5th seam and pass through the 1st strand of broken head from the 4th seam every other strand.

　　2. Insert from the 6th seam and pass through the 2nd strand through the 5th seam every other strand.

　　3. Insert from the first seam and pass through the third strand through the sixth seam every other strand.

　　4. Insert from the second seam and pass through the fourth strand of broken head from the first seam every other strand.

　　5. Insert from the third seam and pass through the sixth strand of the broken head through the second seam every other strand.

　　6. Insert from the 4th seam and pass through the 6th strand of broken head from the 3rd seam every other strand.

　　The second method is shown in Figure b.

　　1. Insert from the 6th seam and pass through the 1st strand of broken head from the 4th seam every two strands.

　　2. Insert from the first seam and thread the second strand through the fifth seam every two strands.

　　3. Insert from the second seam and thread the third strand out of the sixth seam every two strands.

　　4. Insert from the third seam and pass through the fourth strand of the broken head through the first seam every two strands.

　　5. Insert from the 4th seam, and pass through the 6th strand of broken head from the 2nd seam every two strands.

　　6. Insert from the 5th seam and pass through the 8th strand through the 3rd seam every two strands.
