The method of prolonging the service life of steel wire ropes is to use hemp grease to lubricate the steel wire ropes. Heat the hemp core grease to 80-100 ℃, wash and dish the steel wire rope that needs to be lubricated, immerse it in it until saturated, so that the grease can penetrate into the rope core. When the wire rope of the electric hoist is in operation, grease will seep from the rope core into the gaps of the wire rope to reduce wear between the wires. At the same time, the outer layer of the rope also has lubricating grease, reducing wear between the drum or pulley.

　　Although this method is troublesome, it is very effective in maintaining steel wire ropes. When using this method to lubricate and maintain steel wire ropes, two sets of steel wire ropes can be used as backup, one for use and the other for easy cleaning and soaking, so as not to affect production.

　　Using this method to lubricate the steel wire rope has a clean appearance and is easy to check for wear and broken wires. If the method of applying lubricating grease to the drum is used, the specified qualified lubricating grease should be used. You can also use an oil pot to pour thin oil onto the steel wire rope. These methods may appear to have a lot of grease on the surface, but they can only solve the temporary external lubrication, but they cannot solve the lubrication between steel wires.

　　Therefore, the service life of the steel wire rope of the electric hoist is very short. When it is severely worn, the rope needs to be replaced every two to three months. However, due to the high amount of grease on the outer layer, it is not conducive to checking the wear and breakage of the steel wire rope. When frequently lifting high-temperature objects, metal core steel wire ropes should be used. The steel wire rope should try not to come into contact with coal powder, slag, sand, acid, alkali, and other substances. Once these substances are stuck, they should be promptly removed.
